Wooden Letters - Embellished!

Happy Friday!!  We are going to have FANTASTIC weather in the CHI-TOWN area.  My family plans to spend a lot of time outside.

Today I have a great project for you.  These are wooden letters you can find at any craft store. I believe they were less than $2.00 each.  All you do is embellish them however you like or by theme.  Mine spell "Jade" which is my oldest daugther's name.  What I love about them is you can decorate them however you want or use a theme.  All you need is coordinating paper, embellishments, adhesive and mod podge.

My daughter loved them so now I've moved onto to make a set for my other 2 girls.  First, I traced the letters onto the back side of my paper and carefully trimmed them out.  Then I inked the edges with a stamp pad or you could paint them.  Actually painting the edges would be easier.  Hopefully you can see some of the detail in the pictures below.  These can be done for boys or girls.  My friend did a fantastic set for her son maybe she'll let me share pictures of those soon.

Hope you have a great weekend!

Teacher Appreciation 2012

Just wanted to share a fabulous teacher appreciation idea with you all.  My friend actually came up with this idea but I had to steal it!  Thanks Angel!  Each year I find myself racking my brain trying to figure out what I can do or give them that's practical.  Well this year I found it (or should I say we did)!

Sorry about the terrible pic. I was so excited to get them packaged up and shared I forgot I needed pictures for you.  Anyways, movie night gifts!  I bought the popcorn container, microwave popcorn, boxed candy (like you get at the theatre) plus wrapping all at the dollar store! Yes the dollar store!  Then we went to Redbox.com and clicked gifts.  Since you can only send Redbox gifts via FB or email I thought her brilliant idea was done.  However since she is so smart she said what if we email it to ourselves?  Perfect!  So that is exactly what we did.  We personalized the whole thing but emailed it to ourselves instead of the teacher.  This way we knew we could print it in color and create a cute little gift certificate.  Also, then we knew it wouldn't get lost in junk if we did send it directly to the teacher.  Viola! My kids came home and said the teacher's absolutely LOVED them. Plus, I can re-use this idea each year as their teachers change. Yay for Mom!
